Typically, cut scores determining “proficient” have ranged from 60% to 70% on state assessments. Given increased pressures on all of us to prepare students for more rigorous content (and ever-evolving cut scores), Think Through Math has modified the minimum post-quiz score for passing to 70% (from 60%). A 70% pass rate will (a) provide a higher standard of measurement and (b) inform the development of lesson pathways. The result, we believe, will improve proficiency. (Note, a score 80% on the pre-quiz is still required in order to skip the lesson.)
